Collaborative Planning: a parent's story with Sarah Humphreys
Schools develop a variety of different plans for their students. Sometimes that can be for academic support, behaviour support or medical and health care needs. A key feature for developing any of these plans is collaboration between schools, the student and their family as well as other professionals who may be involved.
In this interview a parent shares her journey of collaboration across two different primary schools. She provides a candid insight into the frustration and alienation she experienced when first negotiating support for her son’s needs. She counters this with lessons learnt and the ultimate satisfaction she now experiences as a result of genuine collaboration achieved between school and home.
